Md Hasan Tareque

Md Hasan Tareque is an instructor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Lethbridge, where he is pursuing a PhD in Theoretical and Computational Science. His teaching encompasses digital systems, software development, programming, and computer graphics,with a strong focus on gamification and active learning strategies to enhance student engagement in computer science education. With over a decade of experience in both academia and industry, Tareque has taught at several universities in Bangladesh and has worked in the Canadian technology sector with Veras Technologies, as well as in the telecommunications sector in Bangladesh with Grameenphone. His research interests include algorithms, computational science, and game-based approaches to cybersecurity education, with recent publications in notable venues such as IEEE Access, SIGCSE, and WCCCE. He has also led innovative projects, including ProgramWars, a game-based platform for cybersecurity learning, and contributed to Agility initiatives like the Reconciliation Tree mobile application, which supports intercultural dialogue and community engagement. Active in the University of Lethbridge community, Tareque has served as President of the Bangladesh Student Organization, International Representative for the Graduate Students’ Association, and as a judge for the Meeting of Minds conference and Lethbridge regional science fairs. He also acts as a reviewer for several international conferences. His contributions have been recognized with the U of L Graduate Research Award and the GSA Student Service Award.
