Judith O'Shea

Judith Ann O'Shea's volunteer spirit has led her to selflessly offer her time, expertise, and hospitality to both the University of Lethbridge and the wider community.

For 16 years, Judy O'Shea and her husband Seamus, the University's Vice-President (Academic), have invited new faculty members to dinners at their home to welcome them to the University of Lethbridge community. Judy also endeavours to find individuals who may be alone in the city during holiday times and invites them to join the O'Shea family.

Beyond the University, Judy O'Shea has been a board member of both the Lethbridge Community Foundation, where she served as a director at a time when the organization was reinventing it visual identity and growing its assets, and the Lethbridge Public Library, where she helped to facilitate the board's transition from being a managing board to a governing board.

Through all all her volunteer work, the common thread is Judy O'Shea's rare ability to make everyone feel valued and to build a sense of community. Because of her direct, sustaining, and influential impact on the well-being of the University and the wider community, Judith Ann O'Shea is the very deserving recipient of the 2007 Senate Volunteer Awrd for volunteer work on behalf of the University of Lethbridge.
