I enjoyed my early years growing up on a mixed farm outside of Taber, taking care of plants, animals, enjoying nature and rural life. On a trip into Lethbridge when I was ~10 years old I saw the experimental plots at the Lethbridge Research Centre along the highway - I was intrigued and decided at that moment I was going to work there one day. After high school I immersed myself in the post-secondary experience at the University of Lethbridge, obtaining my B.Sc. in biological sciences in 1988. Immediately after convocation I began my employment at the Lethbridge Research Centre obtaining various contract positions within Crop Sciences, Crop Entomology, Livestock Entomology and eventually within the Winter Wheat Breeding Program. I am currently in my 29th year producing double haploid seedlings and am proud to share that 8 of the last 12 varieties registered by our program were generated by the double haploid program and YES, they may be some of those manicured plots that can now be seen along the highway.
