Elisha Rasmussen - 2011

Image

Elisha Rasmussen has been a valuable member of the University of Lethbridge Senate, and a revered advocate in the community for the University of Lethbridge and for teh value of a post-secondary education.

For over 35 years, Elisha Rasmussen has been well known for her work in broadcasting and producing. She has received many awards and accolades throughout her career.

Over the past several years, she has led the Senate Honorary Degree Search Committee. Under her leadership, this committee has increased the profile of honorary degrees. Using her expertise in journalism, she began sending media releases externally and releasing information to various units within the University to spread the word about honorary degrees. Because of the resulting expanded awareness, the committee began to receive at least 12 honorary degree nominations instead of the usual two to three.

Beyond her work for the Senate, Elisha Rasmussen has provided a range of volunteer service to the institution. On the Hospitality Committee, she welcomed International Students to the University of Lethbridge. Along with her husband Collin, Elisha Rasmussen was an active member of the Family Friendship program. Through this program they helped welcome students from South Korea, Germany, Mexico, France, Poland, and Ghana into the community, even including them in family dinners and outdoor events. Elisha also helps out regularly at the University of Lethbridge convocation ceremonies by pouring tea, greeting people, and providing transportation for convocation guests.

For her committed service to the institution and the community, Elisha Rasmussen is the recipient of the 2011 Senate Volunteer Award for volunteer work on behalf of the University of Lethbridge
