Nominations for the Chartered Professional Accountants Education Foundation (CPAEF) Teaching Award for Accounting Instructors

Have you had an accounting instructor who excelled in some way during your time at the University of Lethbridge?

The CPAEF Teaching Award was designed to annually recognize an accounting instructor who has contributed significantly to the teaching and learning development of accounting students.

Eligibility

  1. The award will be open to:
    • (a) University of Lethbridge continuing faculty currently employed by the University who teach Dhillon School of Business accounting courses, and
    • (b) Term and sessional faculty members who are:
      • Teaching one or more Dhillon School of Business accounting courses in the current academic year, and 
      • Have taught at least two accounting courses at the University of Lethbridge over the preceding two years.
      • Winners of the award in the last two years are not eligible for the award.
  2. Award nominees from one year who were eligible for consideration that year will have the opportunity to update their previous portfolio or submit a portfolio in the subsequent year, if they still meet the criteria in 1(b).

Criteria

  1. Innovation in course content, paper or web-based course materials, cases or project work, or other significant course development;
  2. Consistently superior classroom performance and command of the subject matter;
  3. Attention to students’ intellectual development, interest and enthusiasm for learning;
  4. Presentation of course content and examinations at an appropriate level of rigor;
  5. Excellent course planning, organization, communication and administration; and
  6. Other contributions the nominator feels are significant, such as being a resource for colleagues, attention to students outside class, recognition by peers outside the University (e.g. awards, presentations, external use of materials), connection of theory to business applications, and providing a basis for students’ success in later courses or in their careers.

Please note: as the 2021 and 2022 CPAEF Award winners,  Kelsey Stimson and Adam Zanoni are not eligible to be nominated this year.
