Wellness Workshops provide opportunities for students to develop more effective strategies to maintain positive mental health. You can self-register in any of the workshops, where you will gain strategies and create plans to make positive changes in your behaviours and overall wellness. Register today!

 

 

Wellness Workshops | Spring 2022 Offerings

Counselling Services offers a variety of workshops to help students with specific tools and strategies to thrive.

 

30 Minutes of Mindfulness

Who?  This workshop is for students who are looking for a simple but sincere way of nurturing daily mindfulness in their lives. No previous experience of mindfulness or meditation is necessary.

What?  This workshop series will offer 30 minutes of introductory mindfulness practices, including breath-work and theme-based meditations to offer students a space to both learn and integrate awareness, presence, and heartfulness in their daily life.     

When?  Weekly, on Fridays @ 10am - 10:30am. Starts January 14 and runs until the end of the Spring Semester. 

Where?  The workshop will have a recurring zoom link that will be sent to those who are registered for the workshop.

Why?  Mindfulness and breath-work practices offer a foundational way in which to strengthen awareness, ease stress, and live from the heart. Student life can be hectic and challenging, and mindfulness can support intentional ways of befriending and navigating these challenges.

How? Students can be added right to the workshop by their counsellor or by the intake worker. Or students can email counselling.services@uleth.ca to register.

Building your Anxiety + Depression Toolbox

Who?  Anxiety and depression affect all people in one way or another. Attending this workshop will allow you to understand ‘YOUR’ experience with anxiety and/or depression and provide insight and new tools for managing it.

What?  This 4-session workshop will cover: 

Module 1 – Insights into Anxiety and Depression 

Module 2 – Understanding Anxiety and Depression

Module 3 – Expanding your Toolbox – Part 1

Module 4 – Expanding your Toolbox – Part 2

When?  Weekly, on Thursdays @ 5pm - 5:50pm. Starts January 20th and runs until the end of the Spring Semester. 

Where?  The meeting will have a recurring Zoom link that will be sent to all group members before group starts.

How?  Students can be added right to the workshop by their counsellor or by the intake worker. Or students can email counselling.services@uleth.ca to register.

Exam Anxiety Workshop Series

Who?  This group is for anyone who wants to gain more skills for coping with test anxiety to enhance their performance anxiety.  Presented by Counselling Services & Accommodated Learning Centre.

What?  In this 4 session workshop series, students with be provided with tools and strategies to manage exam anxiety. Sessions include an introduction to exam anxiety, grounding exercises, normalizing anxiety, and strategic studying techniques. This workshop has proven effectiveness in helping students conquer their exam anxiety and succeed! 


When?  Thursdays @ 1:30pm - 2:30pm. Starts February 3. This Workshop will run weekly for 4 weeks (skipping reading week).

Where?  The meeting will be hosted in person. The location will be sent to those who enroll via email.


Why?  If anxiety negatively impacts your academic performance, please consider attending. The sessions will provide you with knowledge, skills and tools that will benefit you, both during your university years and after you begin your career.

This is an open workshop, meaning that if you can’t make it for all sessions that’s okay! Come to as many as you can to get what you need.

 

Attention + Skill Development Workshop Series

Who? This 5-session workshop is intended for students with a diagnosis of ADD/ADHD.

What? This workshop series will provide specific tools to work with your ADHD, not against it. Some topics that will be covered are:

  • Organization, planning and scheduling
  • Prioritizing and breaking down tasks
  • Reducing distractibility
  • Adaptive thinking
  • Procrastination

The sessions will provide you with knowledge, skills and tools that will benefit you both during your university years and after you begin your career.

When?  Weekly, on Thursdays @ 1:30pm - 3pm starting January 13th. This group will run for 5 sessions. 

How?  Students can be added right to the workshop by their counsellor or by the intake worker. Or students can email counselling.services@uleth.ca
