About

Laura Vogelsang is an Associate Professor for our Nursing Programs at the University of Lethbridge. Her professional experience and professional certifications show her dedication to the Nursing field. An interesting passion of Laura's developed during troubled times such as the COVID pandemic, alongside a colleague they started a social media page to stay connected with students during the Pandemic where they offered nursing tips and bite-sized education. This movement became a sensation as it is now the second largest social media education page for nurses in Canada! (Instagram is @nurseitlikeyoumeanit)

Research Focus:

My program of research is grounded in three interconnected areas: scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL), digital health, and aging, with a particular emphasis on equity, digital literacy, and the ways emerging technologies (especially artificial intelligence and extended reality) influence both nursing education and vulnerable populations. My work is motivated by more than a decade of clinical experience with older adults and by my commitment to advancing high-quality, equitable and accessible technologies in a rapidly changing digital landscape, especially for older adults.

My career trajectory has included periods of administrative leadership (2019-2021), which revealed system-level challenges in assessment, evaluation, and technology access for students. These experiences have shaped my research priorities and reinforced the need for scholarship that meaningfully improves education, practice, and patient outcomes.
