Lynn Wyton, Senator

The UofL is a deeply valued foundation in my life. I grew up in Coaldale and knew by grade nine that I wanted to continue my studies in university. I chose the UofL for two key reasons: I expected that it would open areas of study in which I was interested, and I knew I would connect with new people that would bring energy and connection to my life. And wow—was I right!

The UofL literally opened the world to me: political science, Russian history, teacher education, international education, employment opportunities, etc all rolled into my life as I learned, worked and revelled in the atmosphere at the UofL. What’s more, my group of friends and associates grew unimaginably, and those same people continue to bring warmth and value into my life.

Currently I serve as Senior Advisor, Business Partnerships at Explore Edmonton, a role that allows me to connect partners to regional, national and global opportunities. My work takes place in a wide variety of fields including the tourism, education, government, sustainable energy, airline, agri-food and manufacturing sectors. I offer contributions in both the private and public sectors. My leisure interests including hiking, family fun and playing a lot of frisbee with my dog, Rocket.

The University is located on traditional Blackfoot Confederacy territory. We honour the Blackfoot people and their traditional ways of knowing in caring for this land, as well as all Aboriginal peoples who have helped shape and continue to strengthen our University community.
