Student Wellness Ambassador Program

S.W.A.P

Student Wellness Ambassador Program

What is S.W.A.P ?

It is a program designed by students, for students. The U of L Student Wellness Ambassadors are trained peer listeners who are responsible for planning and hosting regular outreach events for students throughout the academic year. The S.W.A.P team aims to promote student connection and wellness so that students can flourish!

  • Peers can normalize experiences, help students feel less alone, and provide hope and tangible strategies
  • Prevention – not everyone needs or wants professional counselling support
  • Help identify students in distress

Our Mission:

The mission of the S.W.A.P Program is to provide students with peer support and encourage the well-being of our student body. Uniquely designed by students for students, the program hosts various social and well-being focused activities, connecting students and promoting student health. Aimed to empower our diverse campus, the S. W. A.P team is committed to advocating for the mental health of all our students. Because it takes a village… to get through university semester.

Hi! I am a fourth-year BSc Psychology student with a Neuroscience minor. I plan to continue my education by pursuing my master's and PhD in clinical neuropsychology and becoming a registered psychologist, potentially focusing on research. I joined SWAP because I wanted to gain practical experiences working with people and contributing to mental health initiatives within my community, while fostering collaboration. You can find me indulging in my passions, such as hiking, learning piano, playing chess, researching, and volunteering in the psychiatric unit.

Hi there! My name is Akira and I'm a fifth year linguistics major. I love taking advantage of the beautiful environments here in Lethbridge, and spending my weekends in the river valley. Here's to helping students form new connections this semester. Let's go team SWAP!

Hi!! I'm Emily and I am super excited to be joining the SWAP team this year. I am in my final year of a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in psychology with a minor in neuroscience. I have been planning and attending events on and off campus for about three years now. If you see me around, feel free to say hi! I can't wait for you to see what we have planned this year.

Hello! I am currently in my third year as a B.Sc in Kinesiology with a minor in Neuroscience and Sociology. I love being involved on campus: I am a sprinter on the Pronhorn's Track and Field team, working as a STEM instructor as well as a math and science tutor, being an Arts and Science representative for the student union, and being an executive member of numerous clubs on campus. I love working in the community with people through volunteering and coaching. I am currently the head coach for sprints at LTFC, District 51 and the cross country coach for ELV. When I am not busy with school or work you can find me with friends bouldering, cooking, hiking, or buying a plane ticket to travel. I look forward to seeing everyone's lovely smile at our events and around campus!
