Otsiikin "Buffalo bean" is one of the earliest flowers to bloom in spring, and an indication that winter has come to an end. When the yellow flowers bloom it is time to begin preparations for the year's Okan (Sundance).
Description
Upright perennial (20–60 cm) with grey-green leaves divided into three broad leaflets. Produces clusters of bright yellow pea-like flowers followed by slender seed pods.
