Traditional knowledge

"Crocus" Indication of spring as one of the earliest plants to flower. A poisonous plant has some medicinal value, but only used with extreme caution.

Description 

Low-growing perennial (10–30 cm) covered in silky hairs, with finely divided leaves emerging after flowering. Produces large pale purple flowers with bright yellow centres, followed by feathery seed heads.
