Academic Supports
Academic Teaching staff can provide experiential learning opportunities to their students through the Agility Innovation Zone. Class visits are designed to promote the use of the Innovation Zone by students for assignments and then as returning users to continue developing transferable skills.
Class visits are generally offered Monday through Friday between 9 am and 4 pm. The following categories describe the types of programming offered, and all can be individually tailored to support the learning outcomes in your course.
INSPIRE: Tour of the Innovation Zone
introducing students to the equipment and sample projects that have been made, and sparking curiosity about what they can do and learn in the space
PREPARE: Group Orientation
Innovation Zone tour plus detailed information about the equipment training process, including walking the group through the introductory Zone Orientation course on Moodle
ENGAGE: Class Workshops
Design Thinking and Rapid Prototyping workshops will get your students innovating creative solutions to real-world problems using simple prototyping materials while considering the principles of Human-Centred Design.
Innovation and Technology workshops are designed to introduce students to emerging technology which supports the concepts covered in class work.
Entrepreneurial Development workshops provide a starting point for students to build confidence in sharing their skills and ideas, as they consider where the future may take them after completing their studies.
If you don't see what you are looking for, or aren't sure how to fit the Innovation Zone into your class, we can work with you to create a model that works! Additionally, we can connect you with an Educational Developer from the Teaching Centre if you would like support in course design and assessment related to the use of the Zone in your curriculum.
Send us an email at agility@uleth.ca to discuss the possibilities for your class!
