Gideon Fujiwara coordinates the emerging Asian Studies program. His research looks at early modern to modern Japan, intellectual networks, kokugaku (nativism or National Learning), community, nation and nationalism, regionalism, modernity, and information access. Among his courses in History, HIST2290 - Main Themes in East Asian History and HIST4040 - Seminars in East Asian History are eligible to count toward the Asian Studies minor.

John Harding's primary areas of interest explore Japanese Buddhism and the cross-cultural exchange between Asia and the West that has shaped the development of modern Buddhism worldwide. Among his courses in Religious Studies, RELS 2200 – The Buddhist Tradition, RELS 2300 – East Asian Religions, and the series courses. RELS 3300 and RELS 4110 are eligible to count toward the minor in Asian Studies.

Glenda Tibe Bonifacio teaches courses related to gender and globalization; women, migration and citizenship; religion and sexuality; and activism and advocacy. These courses include various case studies in Asia. Her recent research project explores gender and the youth bulge in Asia, particularly in the Philippines.

Dr. Trevor Harrison was born and raised in Edmonton. He holds a BA from the University of Winnipeg, an MA from the University of Calgary, and a PhD in sociology from the University of Alberta. His broad areas of specialty include political sociology, political economy, and public policy. He was the University of Lethbridge exchange professor to Hokkai Gakuen in 2006, out of which he wrote Twenty-First Century Japan: A New Sun Rising (Black Rose Books, 2008).
