Grants for Students with Disabilities

Canada Student Grant for Students with Disabilities

  • Canada Student Grant for Students with Permanent Disabilities (CSG-PD)
    • Amounts available one per loan year.
    • Once received you will be automatically assessed every year you apply for Student Aid.
    • This money may be used to help pay for tuition, books, and/or living expenses

 

Canada Student Grant for Services and Equipment- Students with Disabilities

  • Canada Student Grant for Services and Equipment for Students with Permanent Disabilities (CSG-PDSE)

    • Cover the costs for any recommended specialized supports (services and/or technology) listed in your documentation
    • Students must demonstrate their funding has been used appropriately which requires proof of purchase. Any unused funds much be returned to your province or territory Student Aid.

     

Alberta Grant for Students with Disabilities 

  • Alberta Grant for Students with Disabilities (GFD)
    • Cover the costs for any recommended specialized supports (services and/or technology) listed in your documentation
    • Requires quotes as well as proof of purchase and return of unused funds
    • Generally distributed to students without Federal eligibility

You could be eligible for these grants if you:

  • Are currently awarded a Canada Student Loan for the current or upcoming semester through Student Aid with your province/territory.
  • Your documentation must demonstrate that you have a condition or conditions that restrict your ability to perform activities necessary to perform daily activities necessary to pursue studies at a post-secondary level. It is expected you will continue to be affected by such conditions for your entire academic program.

  1. Apply for Student Aid with your province or territory.
  2. Register with ALC upon submitting your Student Intake Form, be sure to select that you are interested in Student Disability Grants
  3. Our office will determine your eligibility for grants and assist your in submitting a Grant Application to your province/territory’s Student Aid. Most Grant applications require a portion to be completed by an ALC team member. Your documentation will also be sent from our office along with your application to Student Aid, for the purpose of assessing your eligibility.

Deadlines may vary by province/territory. You may visit your online Student Aid office for your province/territory for more information on their deadlines to apply.

Processing times may vary by province/territory year-by-year. In some cases, you may be waiting up to eight weeks.  In cases where a portion of your application must be completed by an ALC team member please connect with us early to avoid any delays.
