Expectations & Discipline Procedures
Camp Code of Conduct
At the University of Lethbridge, we are committed to creating a safe, positive, and inclusive environment where every camper can have the best experience possible. These guidelines help ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of all campers, staff, volunteers, and camp property.
Parents and guardians are asked to review this Code of Conduct with their child(ren) before camp begins. Failure to follow these expectations may result in consequences involving the camper, parents/guardians, and camp staff.
Our goal is for every camper to feel respected, supported, and safe. Good sportsmanship and positive behaviour are encouraged at all times.
Behaviour Expectations
All campers, parents, and guardians are expected to:
Treat others, staff, and camp property with respect.
Act in a way that does not endanger, intimidate, or interfere with others.
Follow all instructions given by University staff.
Behave in accordance with this Code of Conduct.
Cell Phone Free Environment
To promote focus, safety, and connection, camp operates as a cell phone free environment, similar to a school setting.
Campers are encouraged to leave phones and personal electronic devices at home.
If a device is brought for transportation or emergency reasons, it must remain off and stored away during camp hours.
Staff will ensure campers have access to a phone if they need to contact a parent/guardian.
The University is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen devices.
Failure to follow this policy will be handled through the camp’s discipline process.
Strike System
Discipline will be managed by camp leaders and supervisors using the following system:
First Strike – Verbal warning and explanation of expected behaviour.
Second Strike – Parent/guardian is contacted; camper must agree to follow rules to continue.
Third Strike – Camper is sent home with no refund for missed programming. Return will be decided case by case. If allowed to return, any further misbehavior will result in immediate removal.
Zero Tolerance
The University of Lethbridge has zero tolerance for violence and bullying. Derogatory comments, bullying, harassment, or violence of any kind will not be tolerated.
Any physical misconduct results in immediate removal with no refund.
The University reserves the right to refuse future participation due to inappropriate behaviour.
Removal will be documented and may affect future registrations.
By working together we can ensure a safe, respectful, and rewarding camp experience for everyone.
Thank you for your cooperation and support.
