McGeorge, Pauline

Department of Art
1930 to 2008

The University community wishes to express its most sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the late Pauline McGeorge, a long-serving, and retired, member of the Fine Arts faculty.

Pauline McGeorge received her education in California at Berkley and Santa Barbara and moved to Lethbridge with her 4 children in 1966 where she was among the founding members of the Art Department at the University of Lethbridge. She taught there for twenty years and was beloved by her students, many of whom have kept in contact with her through the years.

Upon her retirement in 1986 she moved to her property on Kootenay lake where she maintained extensive flower and vegetable gardens and continued to paint and draw. She was always a fabulous cook and produced many incredible meals from garden to table. For the past 3 years she lived in Kaslo with her eldest daughter, Sean. She walked every day until the last 6 weeks of her life and always found joy in the simple beauty of nature. She died on July 2nd, 2008 at Kaslo, surrounded by her loving family.
