Community Sports Stadium

Community Sports Stadium

Open Track

The Lethbridge Track and Field Club is sponsoring open track at the Community Sports Stadium this summer!

The dates and times are as follows:

  • May 12 - June 30, 2025 - Mondays and Wednesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. (excluding May 19th - Victoria Day)
  • July 2 - July 30, 2025 - Monday evenings from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday mornings from 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.

*No membership is required to access the track during these times.

Overview

  • U of L Community Sports Stadium opened in September 2009
  • This facility is a multi-use facility for University Pronghorn Athletics training and competitions as well as high school and community sporting activities
  • Located on University Drive south of campus at 4415 University Dr W, Lethbridge, AB T1K 3M4. See map.

Facility Features

  • One artificial grass, regulation size combination soccer/rugby/football field with lights
  • One natural grass, regulation size soccer pitch
  • A 400-metre, eight lane synthetic outdoor track
  • Throwing areas, jumping pits and open spaces for various track and field events; grandstand stadium seating for 2000 spectators
  • Four team dressing rooms with showers
  • Official's room with shower
  • Ticket booth and first aid rooms; concession services
  • Parking for 300+ vehicles

Fan Code of Conduct

The University of Lethbridge is committed to providing a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable event experience for all fans and event participants. Discrimination, harassment, or any form of prejudice will not be tolerated. The City of Lethbridge, University of Lethbridge, Canada West, and U SPORTS encourage and promote good sportsmanship by students, athletes, coaches, and spectators. We appreciate your cooperation by supporting the participants and officials in a positive manner.

We ask all fans to adhere to the following Fan Code of Conduct and refrain from:

  • Behaviour that is unruly, disruptive, or illegal in nature.

  • Interference with the progress of the game, including throwing objects and/or unauthorized persons on the field of play.

  • Intoxication or other signs of alcohol impairment that results in irresponsible behaviour.

  • Smoking of any substance.

  • Foul and/or abusive language and/or obscene gestures.

  • Verbal or physical harassment of opposing team fans, officials, opponents, or other persons.

  • Intentionally sitting or standing in areas which obstruct the passage and/or view of other spectators.

  • Failing to follow instructions of university staff.

In addition, the following are strictly prohibited inside the Community Sports Stadium:

  • Sunflower seeds

  • Compressed gas air horns.

  • Pets of any size – Service animals must carry a jacket, harness, or other equipment to indicate that they are assisting a person with a disability.

Any fan not in adherence of the Fan Code of Conduct may be asked to vacate the venue.

Stadium Policy

General Guidelines:

  • All individuals using the stadium facilities must adhere to local laws and regulations.

  • Pets are not allowed within the stadium premises. Service animals must carry a jacket, harness, or other equipment to indicate that they are assisting a person with a disability.

  • Proper attire, including shirts and shoes, must be worn at all times.

  • The stadium is an inclusive space. Discrimination, harassment, or any form of prejudice will not be tolerated. Everyone is welcome.

Access and Entry:

  • Access to the stadium is granted during designated operating hours.

  • All attendees must possess valid tickets, passes, or identification as required for entry.

  • Bags, backpacks, and personal items are subject to search by security personnel.

  • Only athletes, coaches, and authorized personnel are permitted on the field and track areas.

Behavior and Conduct:

  • All attendees must conduct themselves in a respectful and sportsmanlike manner by refraining from the following behaviours:

  • Behaviour that is unruly, disruptive, or illegal in nature.

  • Interference with the progress of the game, including throwing objects and/or unauthorized persons on the field of play.

  • Intoxication or other signs of alcohol impairment that results in irresponsible behaviour.

  • Foul and/or abusive language and/or obscene gestures.

  • Verbal or physical harassment of opposing team fans, officials, opponents, or other persons.

  • Intentionally sitting or standing in areas which obstruct the passage and/or view of other spectators.

  • Failing to follow instructions of university staff.

  • Verbal abuse, harassment, or any form of discrimination will not be tolerated.

  • Engaging in disruptive, unsafe, or violent behavior will result in immediate removal and potential legal action.

Alcohol and Substance Use:

  • Alcohol may be sold at approved events by the stadium concession and consumption is only permitted in designated areas and only for individuals of legal drinking age.

  • The stadium is a smoke-free and drug-free zone, including cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and cannabis.

  • The use of illegal substances is strictly prohibited.

Safety and Security:

  • Attendees are required to follow the instructions of stadium personnel and emergency services.

  • Any suspicious activities or items should be reported to stadium staff immediately.

Photography and Recording:

  • By entering an event or program of the Community Stadium, you are entering an area where photography, audio and video recording may occur.

  • Personal photography and video recording for non-commercial purposes are generally permitted, but restrictions may apply during events.

  • Drone usage requires prior approval and required documentation.

Children and Minors:

  • Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

  • Minors should have proper identification and be accompanied by an adult for entry if required.

This facility policy is subject to change without notice. The University of Lethbridge reserves the right to render judgement and decisions on policies not specifically covered.
