Yvonne Tiger

Lecture topic: Indigenous Trailblazing: Doing it My Way

Yvonne N. Tiger is from the Cherokee, Seminole, Muscogee (Creek) Nations of Oklahoma and is a PhD student in the Cultural, Social and Political Thought Program at the University of Lethbridge, housed in Indigenous Studies. A first-generation Native American college graduate, Tiger holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Smith College with Honours, and two master’s degrees from the University of Oklahoma, one in 20th c. U.S. History with a focus on federal Indian boarding school policy, and the other in Native American Studies—Native American Art History and Curating studies conducted within OU’s department of art history. Yvonne teaches for the Indigenous Studies Department here at uLethbridge, and has been the GSA Indigenous Student Representative for two years. She also remains current in the field of Indigenous Art History and History through conference presentations and freelance writing. She is a 2020/2021 Native American Fellow at the Peabody-Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts.
