Psychology students can take part in a variety of clubs, events and engagement opportunities designed to build community.

The Department of Psychology offers a range of groups and gatherings where students, faculty, and researchers can connect, learn, and grow together. Whether you're interested in experimental methods, animal behaviour, popular psychology topics, or community-building events, there’s something for you.

WHinE  (Working with Humans in Experiments) is a research group for people interested in the psychology of human behavior and the use of experimental methods to understand that behavior. We welcome undergraduates, postgraduates, post docs, and professors from across campus but our sessions are particularly geared towards those in the Department of Psychology. We host a variety of sessions each semester including presentations about psychology research (often from faculty and postgraduates in the Department), discussions of topics of interest such as specific research methods, job applications, potential research areas, etc., and workshops on skills (e.g., social media for researchers).

BEERS is an Animal Behaviour research group, comprising undergraduates, graduate students, post-docs, and professors from several labs in the departments of Psychology, Neuroscience, and Biology. At our meetings, we discuss a variety of topics in animal behaviour, as well as our own research. Refreshments are provided by PsYence Publishing[1].

PoP (PsYence of Psychology) is a reading and discussion group that is open to all undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty who are interested in reading about and discussing popular topics in psychology. Each semester we select a book, podcast, or documentary to read, listen, or watch and discuss. As an adjunct to the discussion group, we try to bring in speakers who are exerts on the topics we are discussing.

Researchers and practitioners in Psychology and adjacent disciplines discuss their work and answer questions from the audience. All students and faculty are welcome to attend (no advanced notice required). The Psychology Seminar is supported by The Department of Psychology, PsYence Publishing, and The Psychology Club.

The Psychology Club is a welcoming space for anyone fascinated by psychology—whether you’re a psychology student, faculty member, staff, or simply curious about all things psychology! Our mission is to promote social and academic connections, host engaging events, and create opportunities to explore psychology alongside faculty and peers. Throughout the year, we organize exciting activities like pizza parties, volunteer initiatives, social gatherings, information sessions, and wellness events. We are also introducing a newsletter to share updates on club activities, psychology department news, upcoming seminars, and interesting psychology insights! Membership is free and open to everyone. To join, simply email us at psychology.club@uleth.ca with your preferred contact email, and we’ll add you to our email list. Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram at @psychology.club.uleth for more updates and event announcements. We’d love to have you join our community!
