Shaun Ward

Shaun Ward (BEd '71, BASc (BSc) '72)

Shaun immigrated to Canada from Northern Ireland in 1968. He is recognized in Southern Alberta for his extensive municipal involvement and political career. He has been the Liberal Candidate for Lethbridge Foothills in two elections as well as president of the Liberal Party of Canada in Alberta. He served six years on the Lethbridge Municipal Hospital Board and another six years on the Lethbridge Regional Hospital Board, three of these as chairman of the board. Shaun has been an Alderman for the City of Lethbridge since 1992 for a total of 24 years of elected municipal service. A personal highlight for Shaun was being a UN observer representing Canada in the South African election which ended apartheid. In addition to his active political service, Shaun is an instructor at the Lethbridge Community College.
