Programs

The Department of Anthropology pffers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs. At the undergraduate level, the Department offers a major in Anthropology for the 40-course Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Arts and Science degree programs.

Students selecting this degree program will have the opportunity to take optional courses such as: Indigeneity, Anthropology of Popular Culture, Anthropology of Development, The Ethnographic Imagination, Ancient Societies, Anthropology of Religion, Anthropology of Gender, Intro to Environmental Anthropology, Anthropology of Environmental Conflict and Management, Power and Discourse, Urban Anthropology, Gifts and Commodities, Race and Ethnicity, Origins of Inequality, Historical Ecology, Ritual Practice and Performance, Medical Anthropology, Material Culture, Anthropology of Food, Place and Space. Also, students have the opportunity to take series and special topics courses at the 3000 and 4000 level.

Students who have selected a General Major in the Social Sciences can select Anthropology as one of three streams. Students can also select Anthropology as the BA major for the combined BA/BEd or BA/BMgt programs.
