If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact the Health Centre

  • Email: health.centre@uleth.ca

To help us provide the best care during your first visit, please bring:

  • Ensure you are booked with the most appropriate health care provider
  • Schedule enough time for your appointment

Please note:
You will be seen only for the concern you provided at the time of booking. Additional concerns will require a separate appointment.

To ensure timely access to care for all students, the Health Centre has a strict policy regarding lateness, cancellations, and missed appointments.

Arriving Late

Cancellations (Less Than 24 Hours' Notice)
  • Appointments must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice will incur a $40 fee.
Missed Appointments

While the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP) covers many medically necessary services, some services are not insured. These are called uninsured services. Clinics may charge a fee for these services, and you will be informed of any cost before the service is provided.

What Are Uninsured Services?

Uninsured services are tasks or procedures that fall outside of standard insured medical care. These services often require additional time, administrative work, or resources, which is why a fee may apply.

Examples of Uninsured Services

Common uninsured services include:

  • Transfer of medical records
  • Telephone prescription renewals
  • Travel advice and travel-related immunizations
  • Certain de-insured procedures
  • Forms, reports, and letters
(e.g., insurance forms, employer notes, school forms, medical letters)
Why Fees Apply

AHCIP only pays for medically necessary physician services. When a service is administrative, optional, or not medically required, it becomes the patient’s responsibility to cover the cost.

Clinics must inform you of any fee before completing the service.

Appointments at the Health Centre can be booked in several ways:

  1. Online: Current students who have previously been seen at the Health Centre can book appointments online
  2. By phone: Call 403-329-2484
  3. By email: Send a message to health.centre@uleth.ca
    • Please note: Email is not the preferred method for booking appointments, as it is less fast and reliable. Response times can be delayed, and sending an email does not guarantee your appointment time. Calling or booking online reserves your spot instantly.

Book Online Now

The Health Centre sends reminder emails for all booked appointments 2 days, 1 day, and on the day of your appointment.

  • For the 2-day and 1-day reminders, you can cancel your appointment directly through the email link.
  • Please note that this option is only available up to 24 hours before your appointment. After that, you must call or email the Health Centre to cancel or reschedule.

If you miss an appointment or cancel with short notice without a valid reason, you may be charged a fee or receive a warning, depending on your history of missed appointments.

For more information on fees and warnings, see our Attendance Policy above.

Currently, the Health Centre does not offer walk-in clinic hours.

If you require urgent or same-day care, please call the Health Centre at 403-329-2484. Staff will do their best to accommodate you if there is availability that day.

For non-urgent appointments, we encourage you to book in advance to ensure you get the time and provider you need.

Patients are generally required to come into the clinic for medication refills. Many prescriptions require an in-person assessment, including vital signs and other health checks that cannot be completed remotely.

In some circumstances, a phone refill may be possible, but this must be discussed with and approved by your provider in advance.

Emergency Refills:

Many pharmacies are able to provide emergency refills for a wide range of medications. This allows you to receive enough medication to safely continue until you can attend your next appointment. Please contact your pharmacy directly for more information about emergency refill options.

Your privacy is extremely important to us. The Health Centre collects only the personal information necessary to provide you with medical care and to manage appointments, lab reports, billing, and other essential services. All information is handled in accordance with Alberta health privacy legislation.

Your medical records are kept separate from academic records, stored securely, and retained for 10 years after your last visit before being destroyed.

Information is shared only with your consent, unless required by law (for example, if someone is at risk of harm).

For complete details, please see our Privacy and Confidentiality information on the Health Centre home page.

If you need medical help when the Health Centre is closed, there are several supports available both on and off campus.

On Campus (24/7):

Campus Security always provides emergency first aid and medical assistance. Call 403-329-2345 (or 2345 from an on-campus phone) for non-emergent concerns or immediate support.

Life-Threatening Emergencies:

Call 9-1-1 right away. Stay with the person, keep the area safe, and notify Campus Security so they can assist emergency responders in reaching you.

Off Campus:

For serious medical concerns, call 9-1-1 or go directly to the Chinook Regional Hospital Emergency Department, which operates 24/7.

24/7 Health Advice:

For non-emergency medical questions, call Health Link at 8-1-1 to speak with a Registered Nurse at any time.

For complete details, please see our Emergency Care and After Hours Support page.
