Faculty of Education
Oki, and welcome to the University of Lethbridge. Our University's Blackfoot name is Iniskim, meaning Sacred Buffalo Stone. The University of Lethbridge is located in traditional Blackfoot Confederacy territory. We honour the Blackfoot people and their traditional ways of knowing in caring for this land, as well as all Indigenous Peoples who have helped shape and continue to strengthen our University community.
In the Faculty of Education at the University of Lethbridge, students benefit from one of the most unique teacher training programs in the country. With 27 weeks of practical classroom experience, students receive more than twice the amount required for teacher certification in Alberta. Students will also be qualified to teach in both secondary and elementary classrooms, creating vast opportunities throughout their careers as educators. In 2020, 98% of students surveyed indicated they were employed in the education field throughout Alberta, Canada and internationally.
