The Academic Writing Program at the University of Lethbridge began as a pilot program in 2002. Developed as a collaboration between the Faculties of Arts and Science and Management, the program was created to help students develop effective university-level reading, writing, and reasoning skills—skills essential to becoming an effective participant in the modern research university, skills that are equally important in personal and professional contexts.
The program currently offers sections of Writing 1000 on its Lethbridge and Calgary campuses. For information about enrolling in Writing 1000, please see Academic Advising.
Students are enouraged to drop in during instructor office hours or to make an appointment to see an instructor (usually via email or in discussion with an instructor before or after class).
We recommend that students take advantage of our office hours sooner rather than later to discuss matters related to course content, assignments, drafts of assignments, etc.
