Revision History

May 27, 2025: The Board of Governors approved the University Brand Policy in preparation for the Brand Launch and to ensure consistency in the use and protection of the University's Brand Identity. This Policy supersedes the Use of the University's Name and Marks Identifying the University dated May 21, 2009.

Key Updates Include: 

  • Definitions to clarify what constitutes the University's brand identity, including the University's name, logo, coat of arms/crest, visual identity elements, marks, and other trademarks protected under the Trademarks Act (§2.1).
  • Revisions throughout the Policy to ensure alignment with updated definitions.
  • Inclusion of §4.2 requiring departments to seek approval from the Executive Director,
  • Communications, Marketing & Government Relations (or delegate) for any new marketing assets not consistent with brand guidelines.
  • Editorial updates to reflect the approved institutional policy template

October 21, 2021: Editorial Revisions 

May 21, 2009: Approved by the Board of Governors. Supersedes Policy University of Lethbridge Marks dated June 19, 1986.
