October 22, 2025: The Statutory Deans’ Council (SDC) approved the Use of Booking of Athletics and Recreation Facilities Procedure following the Board’s approval to rescind the previous Use and Booking of University Sport and Recreation Facilities Policy.

Key Updates: 

  • Reclassified from policy to procedure under the institutional Policy Development Framework. Authority for future substantive changes is now with the SDC.
  • The revised procedure is now governed by two parent policies: the Use of University Premises for Non-Academic Purposes Policy, which outlines behavioural and usage standards, and the Space Management and Allocation Policy, which mandates the effective and equitable use of University spaces
  • Procedure streamlined to remove redundancies and improve usability.
  • Department name updated to Athletics and Recreation Services (ARS), reflecting transition from Sport and Recreation Services (SRS).
  • Guiding principles revised to prioritize the University Community.
  • Updated rate categories in Appendix C, including removal of rental fees for Pronghorn Athletics-sponsored activities.

October 10, 2025: Board of Governors approved rescinding the Use and Booking of University Sport and Recreation Facilities Policy upon the successful approval of the Use and Booking of Athletics and Recreation Facilities Procedure by the Statutory Deans' Council (SDC)

October 13, 2016: Approved by the Board of Governors (formerly Facility Booking and Use of Sport and Recreation Facilities)
