Welcome to Iniskim!

Like the tree, the roots of Indigenous Peoples go deep in the history, body and blood of this land.

Our ancestors form the base of this tree, the trunk, from which we, their descendants, can build and branch out because of the foundation they laid out for us. Your university path will be filled with many challenges and triumphs as your body and mind grow and develop, but know that the spirit of your ancestors will lift you up along your way. You are standing on their shoulders so that you can reach the sky. Do not stop. Be steady and move forward on your path, honouring your ancestors who gave you life. You can be solid and wise like the rock, but you first must be brave like the warrior. I believe you can do it. I look forward to joining the many spirits who will be singing an honour song for you on your graduation day.

Application Fee Waived for Canadian Indigenous Students

To support the achievement of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action, particularly removing financial barriers to attaining a post-secondary education, Iniskim, the University of Lethbridge is waiving the application fee for all Canadian Indigenous students.

Any self-identifying Indigenous (First Nations, Metis or Inuit) student who completes the Graduate Application for Admission will have their application fee waived.

Aamskapi Pikuni - Blackfeet Student Tuition

To acknowledge the ancestral territory of the Siksikaitsitapi that extends beyond the international US-Canada border, Iniskim, the University of Lethbridge, will offer international Blackfeet Students from Aamskapi Pikuni (modern day Montana) a differential tuition fee rate equal to the difference between the domestic and international tuition, reimbursed in the form of a scholarship, allowing the international Blackfeet student to pay the same as a Canadian resident would pay for the same program. Interested students are encouraged to contact the office of the Vice Provost, Students, for further information.

Familiarize yourself with and meet the specific admission requirements and application procedures of your prospective program at https://www.ulethbridge.ca/future-student/graduate-studies/admission-information

Most programs require supervisory support at the point of admission. Learn more and search the supervisor database at https://www.ulethbridge.ca/future-student/graduate-studies/tips-contacting-graduate-supervisor

Before beginning the process, you will want to have the following items handy:

Your Alberta Student Number (ASN). If you are unsure whether you have an ASN, have forgotten it, or need to create one, you can look this up or create one (if needed) here: https://learnerregistry.ae.alberta.ca/
You will need to upload and submit your unofficial transcripts, including proof of graduation for your completed degree(s) and transcripts of all post-baccalaureate work, if any
Letters or Reference. Requirements for Letters of Reference vary from program-to-program. See your program’s application procedure for details.
Your Curriculum Vitae (CV). Your CV should be a comprehensive document with a formal structure and academic focus. It should include your academic background, work experience, awards, scholarships, publications, and other achievements.
A Letter of Intent outlining your reasons for wanting to enter a graduate program. It should also articulate how your academic and/or professional background has prepared you for your proposed studies.
