Frequently Asked Questions for Potential MA Economics Students

Background knowledge of the following is strongly recommended:

  • microeconomic theory
  • macroeconomic theory
  • econometrics
  • mathematics
  • statistics

All applicants must satisfy the English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements. Please see English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements for graduate students for information on meeting this requirement.

The minimum GPA is 3.0 (based on the uLethbridge 4.00 scale) on the last 20 graded university-level term courses. Because this is a competitive program, applicants are strongly encouraged to prepare a high-quality application that demonstrates meeting all admission requirements.

The MA in Economics is a cohort-based model starting every September.
