Alberta Education *may* once again be providing an opportunity for students placed in 'distant', rural locations to apply for stipends (usually in the amount of $2,000 each). The criteria for applications in the previous year was that the student placement should be in a school at least 150 kilometers, (one way) from your teacher preparation institution, and that it may be in Northern Alberta. However, confirmation of whether the grant will continue to be offered in 2019, the grant amount, and criteria are all yet to be determined for this year. Please note that we do not expect to receive confirmation about whether the Alberta Education Rural Practicum Program will continue in 2019/20 until June or July, 2019.
Note that you must have applied for an Out of Zone location placement by the due date of that request form (January 15), be approved and subsequently placed in a rural school in Alberta, if you are also hoping to apply for this AB Education Rural Practicum Program funding.
Although specific information and confirmation about the 2019/20 AB Education Rural Practicum Program is not yet available, I am including this selection in the event that it might interest you. Students will receive an update from Field Experiences once this year's details are confirmed.
