Understanding Your Dining Plan

Food services are provided in an à-la-carte style with a variety of locations on campus, offering a wide array of healthy food choices as well as popular choices throughout the day and evening. The Dining Plan allows you to select your preferred venues. We offer all students and staff the convenience of a declining balance on your U of L Student ID Card for all purchases. This card eliminates the need to carry cash. By using the U of L ID card—in the form of the campus dining plan — you can avoid the withdrawal fees you may incur with a bank card.

The Dining Plan is mandatory for all first-year students staying in University Hall, Kainai House, and Piikani House. Students on a mandatory dining plan may choose the Commuter Plan or the Standard Plan. Please note that first-year students living in University Hall, Kainai House, or Piikani House are automatically enrolled in a minimum Commuter Residence Dining Plan, with no option to "opt-out." This is a "room and board" program.

The Dining Plan is optional for all students living in Mt. Blakiston House, Siksika House, Tsuu T’ina House, and the Village. Students selecting an optional dining may choose the Commuter Plan, the Standard Plan, or the Sampler Plan.

All Dining Plans are 8-month contracts payable at the start of the Academic Year.

Your plan covers BOTH Fall and Winter semesters.
You receive ALL your dining plan funds for both semesters at the beginning of September.

Your Student ID Card is your dining card!
Your Student ID card is your payment method for your food purchases.
