The University of Lethbridge Alumni Association (ULAA) recently ratified five new alumni chapters as it seeks to further engage the now more than 43,000 U of L alumni who are making a difference in communities around the world.
In September, the ULAA confirmed its five new chapters, bringing the total number of uLethbridge alumni chapters to seven: the Lethbridge Chapter, the Calgary Chapter, the Iniskim Indigenous Chapter, the Edmonton Chapter, the On-Campus Chapter, the Vancouver Chapter and the Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) Chapter.

University of Lethbridge first-year science student Arashk Ghasroddashti (pronounced gas-row-DASH-tee) had no expectations when he presented recently his research work at the 2018 Undergraduate Neuroscience Conference at the University of Alberta. When he was awarded the prize for best poster presentation, it further ignited his passion for neuroscience research and validated his decision to begin his post-secondary career at the U of L.

The University of Lethbridge Faculty of Arts & Science is pleased to announce the inaugural Wine & Dine Arts & Science Scholarship Dinner has raised over $80,000 in support of student scholarships.
Thanks to the generous support of donors, the Dr. Bhagwan Dua Memorial Scholarship has been endowed with enough funds to award two scholarships per year to students pursuing a degree from the Faculty of Arts & Science. One scholarship will be awarded to a first-year student while the other will be awarded to a continuing student.

Thanks to the generosity of Cor Van Raay and his $5-million gift to the University of Lethbridge and Lethbridge College, along with matching funding from the provincial government, the Dhillon School of Business is launching a new major in Agricultural Enterprise Management.
Van Raay recognized the business and management aspects of agriculture — agricultural finance, marketing and trade, for example — needed more attention and his donation became the catalyst to expand the business focus on agriculture.

Just months shy of opening the premiere science and academic facility in the country, the University of Lethbridge’s reputation as one of Canada’s top research universities has once again been recognized by Research Infosource.
For the second consecutive year, the U of L is ranked second in the Research Universities of the Year Undergraduate classification. It marks the third successive year the University is in the top three and since being named Research University of the Year in 2012, the U of L has never been ranked outside the top five.

Universities Canada Chair and University of Lethbridge President Mike Mahon will outline important issues and opportunities facing Canadian universities as he delivers a keynote address at the Fall Membership Meeting currently underway in Ottawa.
Dr. Mahon’s speech will touch on the importance of university autonomy, connection to community, work-integrated learning, internationalization opportunities for students, opportunities for Indigenous students, and the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the university community.

Captain Robert Abram Bartlett (1875-1946) attempted the Pole with Admiral Peary, worked to advance Canadian sovereignty in the Arctic, and, in 1914, was responsible for one of the most remarkable Arctic rescues of all time. His fame extended throughout North America to Europe where he won awards and dined with royalty.
