Access to Information Act (ATIA) & Protection of Privacy Act (POPA)

As a post-secondary institution, the University of Lethbridge is identified as a public body and is therefore subject to provincial legislation. The legislation has two major parts:

  • Access to  Information - this provides people with the right of access to records in the custody and control of the public body (the University of Lethbridge), including their own records, subject to specific exceptions.
  • Protection of Privacy – protects the privacy of individuals through legislated limitations on how personal information is collected, used, and disclosed.
