Community Member Safety

Community Member Safety

The University has an ethical as well as a legal responsibility to provide a safe environment for all members of the University community. The University strives to foster a shared responsibility for health and safety whereby the risk of injury to persons or the damage to property or facilities is minimized.

Members of the public may have various reasons for attending campus and must be aware of the following:

  • Access:
    • When attending service facilities such as the University Health Centre, Rebound Health Centre, U3T, Horns Recreation events, etc., follow any directions given for accessing campus, parking, and/or other safety information given as part of your appointment or activity.
    • Practice safe habits and follow all campus policies, posted signage, regulations, and instruction by campus personnel.
    • Media personnel should coordinate the purpose and logistics of their visit with the University of Lethbridge Communications Office.
  • Emergencies:
    • In the event of life-threatening emergencies, call 9-1-1 and then Security Services at 403.329.2345.
    • Members of the public who are given direction by a University employee as to safety, regulations, or access issues shall follow the directions given.
  • Reporting:
    • Members of the public that are involved in or have observed an accident, injury, hazard, unsafe condition, or safety concern on University property shall immediately report to Security Services at (403) 329-2345.
    • An online Safety Report may also be submitted.
