Looking to the Future

Speakers Series
The Centre for Culture and Community is finalizing arrangements for a full series of speakers for 2016-2017. Already we anticipate hearing from Dr. Gabe Rosenberg (Women's Studies, Duke University), Dr. Henry A Giroux (Communications, McMaster University), Molly Van Avery, Dr. Anthony Winson (Sociology, Anthropology and College of Social and Applied Human Sciences, University of Guelph). We are excited to grow this series as we hear suggestions from our members. Find details as they become available under the Events and Conferences tab.

The Official Journal of the CCC
Culture & Community will publish the best, innovative research on culture and community of an interdisciplinary nature, regardless of epistemological, methodological, or theoretical orientation. While, generally, the study of community and culture has derived from a more social-policy oriented position, interdisciplinary approaches such as this one, which considers culture as a living entity reflected in the lives of people and institutions, has no such central forum that tracks its intellectual development. Culture & Community will provide a venue in which interdisciplinary scholarship will provide linkages between its own disciplinary transgressions and other disciplines and areas where community and culture are central.

The University is located on traditional Blackfoot Confederacy territory. We honour the Blackfoot people and their traditional ways of knowing in caring for this land, as well as all Aboriginal peoples who have helped shape and continue to strengthen our University community.
