The Institute for Child and Youth Studies (I-CYS) is thrilled to announce the appointment of our first artist-in-residence, Luke Dani Blue (lukedaniblue.com). Originally from Michigan and with an MFA in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University, Luke has been living in Lethbridge since 2017. Luke's short stories have won the Crab Orchard Review’s 2019 Jack Dyer Fiction Prize, been a finalist for the 2017 American Short Fiction Prize, won the 2015 Nelligan Prize and been listed as among the year’s most distinguished by the 2016 Best American Short Stories. Their fiction and essays, which has appeared in a number of literary magazines, feature young people, sexual desire, and rifts between self-created fantasies and everyone else's reality. They are currently working on a sci-fi novel about a teenage con artist on a quest for belonging in a post-post-apocalyptic North America.

The University is located on traditional Blackfoot Confederacy territory. We honour the Blackfoot people and their traditional ways of knowing in caring for this land, as well as all Aboriginal peoples who have helped shape and continue to strengthen our University community.
