Postdoctoral Fellows

Dr. Erin Spring

Dr. Erin Spring was both the University of Lethbridge’s first postdoctoral fellow in the humanities and the first postdoc sponsored by I-CYS.

Drawing on a range of methodological approaches, including reading discussion groups, photo-elicitation, and map-making, Dr. Spring’s award-winning interdisciplinary scholarship seeks to understand the ways in which young people make sense of their identities through reading, writing, and art. In her postdoctoral research at I-CYS, Erin Spring worked with young Blackfoot readers on the Kainai Blood Reserve to pursue her ongoing goal of facilitating social change, building capacity, and promoting student wellbeing.

Dr. Spring is now enjoying a succesful academic career at The University of Calgary.

The University is located on traditional Blackfoot Confederacy territory. We honour the Blackfoot people and their traditional ways of knowing in caring for this land, as well as all Aboriginal peoples who have helped shape and continue to strengthen our University community.
