Presentation title: Solving the SIR model using a quantum computer
Abstract: Quantum computers are incredibly powerful and can be used to simulate many different situations, including problems associated with the medical field. This project uses quantum computers to predict how a population is affected by an infectious disease. We used the SIR model, which tracks the susceptible, infected, and recovered people in a population, to write a system of differential equations which IBM's quantum computer can then solve. These predictions can be used to help hospitals manage resources and prepare for surges of patients in the case of such an emergency.
