A Slice of LPI 2025
Piano students, ages 7+, of all skill levels will work with music faculty in a 1-day piano workshop at the University of Lethbridge Recital Hall. The day will include a noon-hour faculty concert, lessons and music activities. Age-appropriate sessions will be scheduled based on registrations. Teachers are also welcome to register and enjoy the full day of music-making. NOTE: Full day participants should bring a lunch (on-campus options are available for purchase as well). Morning refreshments will be provided for all registered participants. REGISTER BEFORE OCTOBER 15TH, AND RECEIVE $5 OFF YOUR REGISTRATION (discount automatically applied at check-out)!

Keys to Piano Workshop - March 6 & 7, 2026
The University of Lethbridge Conservatory of Music in collaboration with the Lethbridge Branch of the Alberta Registered Music Teachers' Association is hosting our annual piano workshop on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Casa (230 8th Street South). This workshop is open to any piano students and piano teachers in Lethbridge or area.
This full day workshop includes an opportunity to perform for clinicians, participate in break-out sessions on fiddling and world drumming, and attend a noon-hour concert. Lunch is included for all registered participants. Full day, registered students can perform up to 2 pieces for clinicians. Choose one of the below options to fit your schedule (we usually suggest younger students choose the half-day option).

- Half Day AM: 9:15am-1:00pm (Cost: $35)
- Half Day PM: 12:00pm-4:00pm (Cost: $35)

NOTE: On Friday, March 6, piano teachers and senior students are invited to a special clinician-led session at Casa from 5:30–7:00 PM. This unique professional development opportunity will feature a live RCM mock exam, giving attendees a rare behind-the-scenes look at how exams are conducted and graded in real time. Led by senior RCM examiner Kathy Dornian, the session allows teachers to observe a student completing the exam while following along with official grading sheets. This invaluable experience offers practical insight into examiner expectations and the RCM evaluation process. Time will be left after the exam for questions from teachers and senior students.
2026 clinicians:
Kathy Dornian is a nationally respected pedagogue from Mount Royal University Conservatory, chamber musician, adjudicator and examiner. Kathy holds a Master of Music Degree in piano performance from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Education and Kodaly Fine Arts Diploma from the University of Calgary. She is currently an artistic collaborator with the internationally recognized Morningside Music Bridge Program, and travels throughout Canada and the United States as an adjudicator, workshop clinician and as a senior examiner for RCM Examinations. She is also a visiting faculty member of the renowned Central Conservatory and Middle School in Beijing, China. Kathy Dornian has cultivated her collaborative and teaching career with equal success and enthusiasm and continues to pursue her lifelong passion for excellence in music education. As a chamber partner, she is equally at home with all instruments and as a teacher, she has successfully worked with all levels and ages of students. Known as a kind, inspiring and imaginative educator who fosters keenness and curiosity in her students, she is certainly one of Calgary's most sought after and in-demand teachers.

Mini-U Music School Christmas Celebration
Ages: 4–7 years | Cost: $30 per child | Option to add a sibling to registration for $20 (available during check-out)

Need time to finish your Christmas shopping? Register today for the Conservatory's Mini U Christmas party! It's three hours of musical, festive fun! Children will dance, sing, play instruments, and enjoy creative movement, music games, a holiday craft, and a joyful caroling sing-along to end the day. Our friendly Conservatory instructors will keep everyone active, creative, and full of holiday cheer while you enjoy a well-earned break.
