Paper, Cardboard, and Polystyrene (Styrofoam) Recycling

What can be recycled?

Acceptable Items
  • Flattened cardboard (place beside the paper bin)
  • Styrofoam clean, tape removed (place beside the paper bin)
  • Paper cups
  • Computer printout with or without print
  • Computer paper with perforated edges
  • Laser computer printout
  • White bond with or without print
  • White photocopy paper
  • White typing paper
  • White tablet paper
  • Adding machine paper
  • Blueprints
  • Books 1/2" thick (including phone books)
  • Book paper (remove glue binding)
  • Catalogues (1/2" thick max
  • Coloured paper
  • Construction paper
  • ALL envelopes
  • Fax paper
  • File folders
  • Glossy calendars
  • Loose leaf paper
  • Magazines
  • NCR paper (2 to 3 part form)
  • Newspaper
  • Photocopy paper wrapping
  • Post-it-notes

*These items can be placed in a compost bin.

Exception: Shredded paper is to be bagged separately and should not be included inside the central paper recycling bins. Place shredded paper beside the paper recycling bins.
