A tireless and unwavering leader dedicated to scholarly activism, Dr. Gülden Özcan was an erstwhile supporter of graduate learners, encouraging her students to take ownership of their graduate experience through disciplined exploration of their topics and to believe in their ideas.
Özcan, who passed away in May 2022, is the first to be honoured with the University of Lethbridge School of Graduate Studies Graduate Mentorship Award. She will be recognized as part of the 2023 Fall Convocation ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, 10 a.m. in the 1st Choice Savings Centre gymnasium.

Acknowledging her exceptional contributions to health sciences, neuroscientist Dr. Gerlinde Metz has become the University of Lethbridge’s first professor to be named a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences Fellow (CAHS). Fellows are recognized by their peers nationally and internationally for their contributions to health sciences and have demonstrated leadership, distinctive competencies and a commitment to advance health sciences.

For her steadfast commitment to Indigenous youth, her leadership in education and the ongoing work of reconciliation, the University of Lethbridge will recognize Fox with an honorary degree at 2023 Fall Convocation.

University of Lethbridge Pronghorns assistant women’s basketball coaches Paige Crozon and Kacie Bosch (BA ’21) are on top of the world after leading Canada to its second straight title at the FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series Final in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia this past weekend. The duo, along with twin sisters Katherine Plouffe and Michelle Plouffe, defeated France 16-15 in the championship game, and now look forward to qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
