Multiple athletes and coaches with University of Lethbridge Pronghorns ties will represent Canada in Paris beginning July 24

Dr. Gerlinde Metz, a University of Lethbridge neuroscientist, Dr. Gerald Giesbrecht from the University of Calgary and Dr. David Olson from the University of Alberta have received a One Child Every Child Strategic Catalyst Award worth $50,000 to look at maternal social isolation as a risk factor for adverse pregnancy outcomes and developmental trajectories in their offspring.

Lethbridge and communities across southern Alberta (and beyond) have benefited greatly by the teaching, research and community outreach activities of the University of Lethbridge and Lethbridge College. Indeed, it is unique to have two significant post-secondary institutions located within a city of 100,000 people. We know our colleagues at Lethbridge College have been working toward this designation for some time and we congratulate them on this development.

University of Lethbridge third-year nursing students helped create a partnership between Medical Mercy Canada and the Blood Tribe Department of Health as part of their community health initiative earlier this spring. Medical Mercy Canada provides medical supply donations to various countries worldwide, such as wound-care necessities and medical equipment.

Mars Jesson, a psychology major and co-chair of Q-Space at the University of Lethbridge, is the first recipient of the VandenHoek Schlachter Pride Award. This recognition celebrates Jesson's commitment to supporting the 2SLGBTQ+ community on campus and beyond.

The inaugural winner of the VandenHoek Schlachter Pride Award will be announced at the flag raising Everyone is welcome to attend as the University of Lethbridge raises the Progress Pride flag on Tuesday, June 18, at 11 a.m. outside the Students’ Union Building by the Aperture Drive bus loop.

A spectrum of research projects at the University of Lethbridge have been awarded nearly $2.6 million in federal funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).
