University of Lethbridge to launch new research centre
Media are invited to attend the launch on Friday, Sept. 12, from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
The Centre for Feminist Research (CFR) at the University of Lethbridge is designed to bring together scholars from across campus who are working on feminist research, whether they are faculty members, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students or undergrads.
“This centre is about amplifying the voices of feminist researchers across disciplines,” says Dr. Tara MacDonald, director of the CFR. “The idea is to create an interdisciplinary hub and a space to honour their work and inspire change.”
In addition to MacDonald, Ryan Crosschild, an assistant professor, will be affiliated with the centre. Along with showcasing and celebrating research that’s already being conducted, they foresee that collaboration amongst researchers could also identify funding opportunities, expand course options for students and foster partnerships with community groups.
The Centre for Feminist Research will be launched publicly on Friday, Sept. 12, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the Science Commons Atrium. Media are invited to attend all or part of the launch. MacDonald and Helstein will be available for interviews following the launch.
