Bryanne Wandler — Award Recipient

Bryanne

TECTERRA Geomatics Bursary (2023)

Bryanne is a recipient of an i4Geo student award. Bryanne’s thesis work explores spatial accessibility to essential services using geospatial analysis, with a focus on identifying and addressing urban food deserts. Her project maps walking distances to grocery stores across Lethbridge using the existing street network, highlighting areas where residents face limited access to food within 1, 2, and 3 km thresholds.

Through comparative and scenario-based mapping, her work also evaluates how accessibility could improve with the addition of new grocery store locations, providing practical insight into how targeted interventions can reduce food deserts. By combining network analysis with clear visual communication, her research supports more informed urban planning and decision-making around equitable access to essential services.

The posters below summarize the objectives, methods, and key findings of her work.
