Overview

The Advisory Committee (AC) is i4Geo’s conduit to regional and national networks. Its purpose is to identify opportunities for partnerships, resources, and funding that sustain and advance the Institute’s research, training, and business development goals.

Purpose & Objectives

  • Identify opportunities for collaboration, funding, and strategic partnerships.

  • Advise on research priorities, skills training, and business development.

  • Strengthen i4Geo’s connections across Canada’s geospatial sector and our regional community.

Composition & Selection

  • Up to 10 multi-disciplinary professionals from the Canadian geospatial sector and notable community members from our region.

  • Members are solicited by the Executive Committee from industry, government, academia, and national societies, as well as regional economic development and the Blackfoot community.

  • The Institute Director, Institute Manager, and at least one faculty Executive Committee member also serve on the AC.

  • The committee can include up to 14 members in total.

Meeting Schedule & Chair

The AC meets once per year. The committee and its annual meeting are chaired by the Associate Director.

Relationship to i4Geo Leadership

The AC provides external insight and network access to support i4Geo’s mission. Recommendations inform Executive Committee discussions on strategy, partnerships, training, and operations.

Current Discussion Themes

  • Partnership and funding pathways to scale research and training.

  • Support for work-integrated learning and community collaboration.

  • Development of dual-credit high school courses in geospatial technology.

The University is located on traditional Blackfoot Confederacy territory. We honour the Blackfoot people and their traditional ways of knowing in caring for this land, as well as all Aboriginal peoples who have helped shape and continue to strengthen our University community.
