Our Mission Statement
Launched in 2025, the Centre for Feminist Research at the University of Lethbridge serves as a hub for interdisciplinary feminist, queer, and trans scholarship and creative practice on campus and beyond. We understand the project of feminism to be about the dismantling of power structures, systems, and relationships that perpetuate harm and inequities. We also understand feminism to be about world-making, that is, enacting more just relations and visions of the here and now as well as the future. We promote work that is anti-colonial, anti-racist, and trans-inclusive.
Our vision for the CFR is a space that is hope driven and bolstered by an ethos of care and support. We understand the CFR is not an abstract space, and we are situated on the territories of the Blackfoot People. This location carries responsibilities: to reconsider what it means to live and learn on First Peoples’ lands, to act on the obligations that follow from that recognition, and to take seriously First Peoples’ calls for change and better relations.
