The CFR was created in 2025 to offer a campus-wide home for interdisciplinary feminist research and creative practice. The CFR is supported by a faculty advisory board and a graduate student committee.
The advisory board for 2025-2026 includes: Carly Adams (Kinesiology & Physical Education), Ryan Crosschild (Sociology), Emily Gale (Music), Miranda Leibel (Liberal Education), Suzanne Lenon (Sociology), and Tara MacDonald (English).
The graduate committee for 2025-2026 includes: Jodi Newman (graduate liaison), Elizabeth Holthe, Mary Siever, Allison Vonk, and Ariana Williams.
Feminist scholarship has a lengthy history at the University of Lethbridge. The Women & Gender Studies Department was formed in the mid-1980s (as Women's Studies).
The work that we are currently doing in the CFR would not have been possible without the contributions of previous WGST faculty, including Dr. Glenda Bonifacio, Dr. JoAnne Fiske, Dr. Tiffany Muller Myrdahl, and Dr. Carol Williams.
Core WGST faculty currently include Ryan Crosschild, Dr. Caroline Hodes, Dr. Suzanne Lenon, and Dr. Tara MacDonald.
For more on WGST at the University of Lethbridge, see WGST page.
Additionally, Dr. Janay Nugent (Associate Dean, Arts & Science) was instrumental in the planning and creation of the CFR, and we thank her for her generosity and vision.
