Day 25 November 9, 2006 London, England
After breakfast we headed out to Kew Gardens. It was a beautiful fall day. (More blue sky than I ever remember seeing in 6 weeks in 1953) Many of the early explorers I have followed over the years were collecting plants from around the world for Kew Gardens so it is one of my favorite places. . |

This would be the last night of our journey for we would be boarding Air Canada for home in the morning or would we.
Our adventures abroad were not over yet. We stopped by Marks & Spencer to pick up some salads and wine for supper and on entering our B&B noticed a strange smell. I wonder what they are having for supper? As the evening progressed it didn't seem to get any better. We decided they must have a self cleaning oven. Then the main lights went out. Leaving our room to investigate our hostess said they had been wondering what the smell was too then smoke came out of the wall plug and the lights went out throughout the apartment. I don't know but I think I would have phoned the fire department. They kept feeling the wall and noting that it was cooling down and not getting hotter. They phoned an electrician who I expect came the next day. But we had gone. It had been fun. Another great adventure but it's good to get home. . |

I expect the B&B is still there. |
