Day 3 October 18, 2006 London to Nairobi, Kenya
Up early we dragged our wheels to the Victoria Tube Station, wrestled the stairs and were well in time for our 10 o'clock flight to Nairobi despite being held up between tube stations for some emergency down the line. Today's airport security was a new experience as long lines and multi tables were in place for people to place whatever liquids etc. they might remember before the big search. Once we were away the travel time was about the same as from Calgary to London but at least the seats were more spacious and each had a TV monitor. When we arrived in Nairobi we managed to get a legitimate taxi by going through the airport authorities and arrived safely at the Nairobi Hilton. (This we considered a major achievement as Nairobi has the reputation as being a very mean place at night. It's nickname Nairobbery) . |

Once the vehicle and ourselves had gone through hotel security we found it a great stay.
OK, we did have trouble getting bottled water and yes they seemed to practice the old China trick. Yes, they have air conditioning but seem to turn it off a night so that cool air Canadians can find it a bit shocking at 4 a.m. (Experience talking here: Take along a small portable fan.)
