Public Professor Yellow Chair

The Public Professor Series began with a simple idea: great research should be shared beyond the University.

The series grew out of the popular Public Professor column in the Lethbridge Herald, which featured 146 Saturday columns written by ULethbridge faculty and co-edited by Dan Johnson and James Linville. In 2014, the Faculty of Arts & Science launched the Public Professor Series as a lecture series, and in 2023, it expanded to include researchers from across the University.

Today, the series continues to bring research into the community — offering fresh perspectives, sparking curiosity and creating conversations around the topics that matter.

Expect big ideas, fascinating research and plenty of time to ask questions. Each Public Professor event features a 35 to 45 minute talk from a ULethbridge researcher, followed by an open Q&A where you can dig deeper, challenge ideas and satisfy your curiosity. Events take place in public venues around Lethbridge — and sometimes beyond.

Registration is required to guarantee a spot. Our community venues have limited capacity and these events fill up quickly, so we recommend registering early to avoid missing out. If registration fills up, you can join our waitlist!
