Seeding demonstration plots

Image

Lewis Blue Flax is one of 12 types of seeds planted in preparation for landscape rehabiliation work.

The Grounds department has embarked on a sustainable project, seeded demonstration plots for native grasses in preparation for rehabilitation work after construction of The Destination Project.

Planting of 12 demonstration plots began in June 2013. These plots are in the area west of lot E. Each plot was seeded according to accepted practices and then given the level of care that is expected for the proposed new spaces that will be reclaimed when construction is complete. The seeds chosen are in keeping with the design intentions of the original plans for this campus in its coulee ecosystem

See the individual plot signs for more information on the varieties that have been seeded.

Seed Supplied by Sunshine Seeds and Alberta Conservation Association.
